County of London Archery Association, Outdoor Championships, 13th August 2006 Results
Adobe Acrobat or Reader required to view. ReportTalk to an archer about the worst shooting conditions and you get one of two possible answers. If the archer’s in it for the fun and the social side of it, no doubt they will say how much they hate rain. Serious archers however, thinking more about score will hate the wind. On the 13th of August at the county champs the sky opened and some serious rain fell on KPG. So much say that not a single archer managed not to moan about the conditions. The first dozen were hell for all of us, but then we had a break with a spot of sunshine breaking the clouds. Then it rained a bit more and so on…. The conditions were you could say surreal, and at one stage in the afternoon we all shot towards a blackened sky and yet were bathed in sunlight.
A visitor from outside the county stole the crown of victory, but not being from the county meant that Ian McGibbon is county champion! Hurrah! Not only that but London Archers were victorious in the team recurve category (Ian, Rik, Tim and Adam) and Dave Spinner came first (out of two!) meaning he is county compound champion! Jill Rennie came 2nd overall, but is affiliated to GNAS so her score couldn’t be counted towards the team’s Grrrr. Well done on Eleanor Daplyn’s performance finishing first on the Hereford round with her trusty Longbow! Competitions main page |
