London Archer gets the Brazilian treatment – Nov 2005

This year, David Spinner travelled out to meet up with fellow London Archer Paul Rennie in Brazil to compete in their national champs. Good performances by both saw David finish 5th in gents compound and Paul (despite having the most twisted limbs David had ever seen) finish 10th in gents recurve.

In the process, David shot a personal best at 70m and equalled his FITA PB despite having to stand up to his ankles in rainwater for much of the shoot (see picture taken on the "dry" day). Paul and David then coached the Brasilia (Paul’s Brazilian club) compound team to a medal in the team competition. Old friendships were also renewed as the Italian team was competing there, one of whom David had met 3 years previously while in Thailand.

In addition the boys met the Olympic champion Marco Galiazzo, though he wasn't the talkative type. The British tradition of socialising with everyone was maintained, the boys last being seen taking the Italian ladies team for drinks on the beach...
